Green Room Goes Digging in the Dirt!

Posted on October 28, 2013

The looks on the children’s faces were priceless as the Green Room teachers sampled “bugs” from a cup of “soil”. “Of course, we had to know if they were crunchy or chewy. There is only one way to find out!” Unfortunately, there was not a single Pre-Kindergarten child who was brave enough to have a taste and ultimately discover that the “bugs” were actually chocolate covered raisins! Finally, when each child was given their own cup of “soil”, chocolate cake, to be sorted through did they begin to realize that all of the contents were in fact delicious candy delights; “rocks” were Whoopers, “leaves” were fruit rollups, etc. Children were then allowed another opportunity to sample a “bug” of choice followed by the task of sorting all of the items into groups. Afterward, they counted and recorded their findings onto a bar graph. It was a delightful day “digging in the dirt”!dirt2
